Abstract
This research examines the influence of online learning platforms on secondary school student engagement in terms of behavioral, emotional, and cognitive aspects. A mixed-methods research design utilizing surveys, interviews, classroom observations, and platform use records with 200 students and 10 teachers from five urban schools finds that behavioral engagement is most pronounced, followed by cognitive, while emotional engagement is relatively lower. Findings indicate that platform selection and active teacher participation have a significant impact on levels of engagement. In spite of issues like technical difficulties and low emotional connection, online platforms provide flexibility and promote self-directed learning. The research emphasizes the importance of enhanced teacher training, infrastructure support, and measures to increase emotional and social engagement to achieve maximum benefits of digital learning in secondary education.
